Publisher's Synopsis
Mary McGann's marriage has always been a difficult one. She only endures Frank's drunken, jealous nature because the little money he earns keeps food in the mouths of their three children. When Frank throws them out in a jealous rage, Mary pawns her wedding ring and flees to her family in Dublin, where further hardship awaits. Help comes in the form of handsome Richard O'Neill but Mary's not after romantic diversion. When word comes that Frank needs her, she returns to Liverpool, doubting that the future holds anything but struggle. But there are surprises in store and a brighter horizon lies beyond the looming tragedy and danger.
