Publisher's Synopsis
In Barcelona, 1912, many Catalan conscripts, opposed to fighting the war in Spanish Morocco, were killed in a rebellion. More were imprisoned, including an English businessman - subsequently found dead in his cell... Why was he in Barcelona? Was he involved in the illicit three-way trade between Gibraltar, Spanish Morocco and Barcelona? And how did he die? The Spanish authorities need an independent investigation. Seymour of Scotland Yard has experience of the tangled diplomacy of that part of the Mediterranean; more importantly, he should - coming from London's dockland - know how to swim if push comes to shove...
