Publisher's Synopsis

Nestled away in its unspoiled little valley in East Hopewell Township (Felton), Pennsylvania, the Wallace-Cross Mill was bypassed by modernization and its basic machinery survives. Built by Alexander Wallace sometime in the second quarter of the 1800s, he ran the mill until his death in 1861. It was then run by his daughters Eleanor and Mary Wallace. In 1895, it was sold to their nephew, J. Nelson Cross and later run by his son, Harry Cross. In 1979, it was Harry Cross that donated it to York County to educate future generations about this important aspect of their heritage.
