Publisher's Synopsis
The story begins with Red, a bird who is often angry for many reasons that are unfair to him, running like mad to make a delivery to a family of birds, officiating as a birthday clown. He brings them a cake, but an accident happens: Red accidentally breaks an egg, which the little one thinks is his father's, all because the parents have voluntarily taken him away from him because he is late. Red is put on trial by the chief of the island, whose inhabitants cannot fly despite being birds, and must undergo therapy to calm his anger. He meets Matilda, the female bird that sends explosive eggs, Chuck, a yellow bird known for its speed, Bomb, a big black bird that explodes as soon as he is criticized or feels strong emotions, and Terence, a big red bird that terrifies children. Refusing to follow the therapy, he goes home, encountering some obstacles. Red's home is on a beach, completely isolated from the rest of the island's population. One day, shortly afterwards, green pigs arrive on the island. Leonard, their leader, pretends to come in peace, but Red is not fooled and thinks there is something fishy going on. He tries in vain to warn his fellow pigs, who are deaf to him. Red searches the boat by which they arrived, with the help of Chuck and Bomb, and discovers among other things that there are other green pigs on board. But even so, because Leonard and his mate say they were the only pigs that came, the other birds don't listen to him. Red, Chuck and Bomb, after other pigs have arrived and are setting up dubious activities, decide to go and visit Valiant Eagle, a famous bird, the only one who can still fly, in order to ask for his help, but he, having become fat and self-centered, simply refuses, no longer wanting to meddle in the birds' lives.Red and his two friends then catch the pigs stealing the birds' eggs, through a very organized system, without being able to stop them. The islanders are astonished to discover the deception and blame themselves for not listening to Red. Mad with anger, the bird does not miss the opportunity to belittle them and tells his fellow birds that they will go to the Island of Pigs by boat and retrieve the eggs.Once there, they use the slingshot offered by the pigs to attack the island of their enemies, also allowing Red, Chuck and Bomb to reach Leonardo's castle, which is actually the king of the island. Red saves the eggs with the help of Valiant Eagle, who, seeing the courage of his fellow pigs, decides to get his act together and help them. But an egg falls and Red sacrifices himself to help it.The final battle between Red and Leonardo ends with a gigantic explosion of dynamite, set off by Leonardo himself in the dynamite reserves of his palace, completely destroying the City of Pigs. Red has just enough time to protect himself, thanks to the giant pot used to cook the eggs. For a moment, the birds thought Red was dead, but he reappears unharmed and brings the last egg back to their parents, which has hatched three blue chicks.Thankful for Red, who has become a hero, the chicks sing a heroic song to him and the birds move his house back to the island village. To celebrate this event, Red invites Chuck and Bomb to his home. Red is finally respected by the other birds.
