Publisher's Synopsis
THE CHRONOLOGICAL NEW TESTAMENT is an original translation and commentary based on the Greek text of the New Testament. Its unique approach provides a useful tool for biblical scholars, students and ministers, whilst enabling ordinary believers and enquirers to engage easily with the text. The commentary offers a number of new insights into the interpretation and understanding of the scriptures. Unlike many other such works, it is not committed to provide doctrinal evidence, sermon illustrations, devotional application or academic discussion. Its chronological arrangement allows the reader to follow the development of early Christian thought, whilst its detailed, verse-by-verse exposition does not avoid even the most difficult passages. Nonetheless, it is easily understood by the untrained reader. Although based on modern biblical criticism, it avoids scholarly debate and interprets the text independently of any particular theological viewpoint, providing a clear, unaffiliated understanding of its original meaning. Volume eleven covers the Fourth Gospel, chapters 14 to 21 and the Johannine Letters.
