England still talk about World Cup '86 and how they lost out to "The Hand of God".
For years after the dust has settled and the memories have almost faded, people still talk about their wins or how they should have won.
The Dutch still talk about Euro '88 and like the Dutch in this small corner of the World on the west coast of Ireland we still talk about it too. Not the Ireland England game but the final. The final between Holland and The Soviet Union.
We still talk about Willy Kelly and his competition! His sticker book competition. The first person to collect all 88 players in their sticker book wins a trip to the Euro 88 final. Stickers were 88p each and the search for stickers caused a frenzy all up and down the west coast of Ireland. But in typical Irish fashion, not all is as it seems.
Nobody has ever forgotten what happened in our little town in the summer of 1988.
