Nancy and her friends go to San Francisco, and there they meet three mysterious older people named Mildred, Harriet, and Edward who are always acting suspicious. Turns out they're members of a mystery writers group in town - they heard the daughter of the famous Carson Drew was coming, and they decided to create a mystery for her to solve.
