This volume was firstly published in 1876 and made available at that time for the first time in English the "Primitive Liturgies" which were previously very difficult to obtain in the original Greek, and impossible in English. This volume includes a brief introduction to and translations of the liturgies of Mark, James, Clement, Chrysostom, Basil, and the Church of Malabar. It also includes an appendix that gives the formula of the Institution as they occur in every liturgy.
