An existential war between biologicals and mechs.
In the near future, scientists discover a flickering artificial sun headed towards Earth. Code named "Deimos", this alien threat becomes the impetus for a massive outworld colonization program, the creation of an army of mechs to defend the planet, and a bioengineering initiative to adapt the human race to survive the apocalypse. On a colony mission to a pastoral planet, Rangers find a number of formerly star-traveling races living in mud huts. With native animals affected by electromagnetic fields, Junior Rangers suspect that the devolution is no accident. During an attack on the Homestead, Li'l Mike's head is crushed. The doctor reloads files from a Junior Ranger's neural scans, but is it Siff or something else living inside the mech?
