Publisher's Synopsis
Have you seen a fish that looks like a snake?
The Hagfish somewhat looks like a snake, but it looks more like an eel. As you can already tell, snakes and eels are long-shaped sea creatures - and so is the Hagfish. Since it looks more like an eel, it is sometimes called a "slime eel."
Since it is a slime eel, the Hagfish has lots AND LOTS of that slimy stuff. The Hagfish mostly uses its slime to defend itself.
The average length of a Hagfish is about 19 inches, but there are reported cases of this species of fish that reached more than four feet in length (that's even taller than a small child!).
