This publication describes deep operations in the context of the operations process and offers techniques for identifying opportunities to exploit the enemy in the deep area. It describes the major capabilities and activities that support deep operations and provides special considerations that are required to effectively plan, prepare, execute, and assess deep operations. While the commander has a number of options available to set conditions in the deep area, this publication focuses specifically on artillery strikes and aviation attacks.
