Transportation is considered as a major factor that affects all the national economic, social, and political parameters in most countries. However, since 1989 the Sudanese transportation means have seen complete and accelerated deterioration in their performance. One its most important components, the railways deteriorated to the point of complete stoppage. Others, e.g., river transportation, a national company was privatized, sold with its harbors and workshops. Land transportations saw continuous risings in commodities' transportation prices. That added to other factors that had negative impacts on cost of production in all the real production sectors. All these coincide with the general degeneration in its productive performance. The document analyzes the transportation sector with all its components in Sudan and gives some insights solutions for its predicament.
