After Five The Hard Way, Nick Fury and the heroes try moving past the tragic event. The lives that were affected by the Red Skull would soon seek salvation. To once again obtain peace would remain a battle for most, while others would roam seeking for answers. While falling back into the routine of their daily lives it had seemed that everything would return back to normal. For a short time it appeared to have made a change for the better. Once Charles Xavier, Beast, and Storm contact S.H.I.E.L.D about another possible threat, Nick Fury summons a group of men to stand against whatever might come their way. The X-Men's Blackbird provides a hidden cipher grasping the attention of Captain America and ordering a project to decrypt the code. While analyzing the sole purpose of the message, a new objective would soon become a recipe for disaster. Captain America joins forces with Nick Fury, Iron Man, and the Hulk. After reaching out to many others they soon find themselves encountering yet another hostile nemesis. Upon learning of a prison break that frees a brutal adversary of S.H.I.E.L.D. they discover that the Juggernaut was the tool used for the job. With the strings being pulled from another country, Wolverine and War Machine step forward to lend a helping hand. When S.H.I.E.L.D loses confidence in their leaders it causes mayhem to reign over New York City, giving the heroes no clue of who the enemy truly is. The war continues on American soil but in this game there's no home field advantage.
