Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from The Childhood of David Copperfield: The Early Chapters of the Author's Novel, With an Introduction and Notes

Instead of looking back therefore I will look forward. I cannot close this Volume more agree ably to myself than with a hopeful glance towards the time when I shall again put forth my two green leaves once a month, and with a faithful remem brance of the genial sun and showers that have fallen on these leaves of David Copperfield, and made me happy.

The foregoing remarks are what I originally wrote, under the head of preface TO the per sonal history OF david copperfield. I have nothing to add to them at this time.
