Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Ethnology of a-Kamba and Other East African Tribes
In the description of the Kamba ordeals mention is made of the ordeal by the insertion of a bead under the eyelid and, on p. 672 of Grenfell and t/ze Congo, I now see that the same ordeal is used by Bateke and Eshi Kongo of Western Congo land; thus affording one more instance of the extraordinary way in which the human mind works in circles, and does exactly the same thing in a dozen places on the earth, all equally remote from each other.
