In the present volume are included three distinct subjects: Bitumens, (including Aromatic Hydrocarbons and Phenols), Aromatic Acids, and Explosives. The last-mentioned article would have been per haps more in place had it followed Cellulose or Glycerin. When one considers, however, the fact that all tests under the heading of Ex plosives are utterly distinct from those of Cellulose or Glycerin, the convenience in book-making in this case may be allowed to take precedence.
