Publisher's Synopsis
Technical innovation has moved to centre stage in contemporary debates on economic theory and policy. The third edition of this work has been rewritten in all the existing chapters and has added ten new chapters to address recent advances in theory and in policymaking. Dealing with the international dimensions of technical change including underdevelopment, technology transfer, international trade, and globilization, it has also added to the historical account of the rise of new technologies. Using their experience of projects for the OECD, the European Union, and industry, the authors include new chapters on "the information society", environmental issues, and on the updated discussion of science and technology policy.
