1924, That Was the Year When .....

A concise presentation of many of the events in Britain, and impacting on Britain, during 1924. These are presented in a jargon-free and easy to follow manner and will show you how crazy the advancements of the past hundred years or so have been. But there are also some incredible similarities between then and now:

• The rise of fascism in Western Europe
• The rise and influence of Russia in Eastern Europe. This was led by the Russian Communists and was not dissimilar to the rise of 'Putinism' today (although it should be noted that Putinism has been likened to national socialism, rather than communism)

• British workers striking for better pay and conditions
• And technologies and engineering which would have been every bit as daunting to the average person in 1924, as today's are to those of us over a certain age

So welcome to an eclectic journey through 1924, a leap year, a year when three British governments were in office, a year when memories of World War 1 were still fresh in the minds of most ordinary people, and a year when industrial unrest was on the rise as workers and their unions became more organised.
